Gratitude!
We’ve always had a very big, special place in our hearts for the incredible humans (past and present) who’ve put their own lives, wants, needs, loved ones, friends, and families on hold just to have served (you and I and everyone we know collectively) in more ways than we can possibly fathom.
Veteran’s Day is a very important holiday and a gentle reminder for all to show appreciation, love, and gratitude, and to have the opportunity to serve some of those to whom we’re beyond grateful for having served us.
Not that anything we do can hold a candle to what our military guys and gals have done,..
… but we love that this day exists for us to remind them how much they’re loved, for them to be open to it / allow us to do so, and also to receive it with open arms.
Today we were up at the crack of dawn and headed over to the local American Legion Post where we spent the morning cooking and serving up breakfast to dozens of Vets and their families. So many wonderful stories were shared…
What seemed pretty bizarre to us, though, was that the main gal who organizes the majority of the local events involving Veterans commented on the intensity of our gratitude. It made our hearts sink to hear that it’s something she says is rarely expressed.
How can that be?!?!
Hmmm… well we’re pretty sure we can help with that!
She also seemed pretty stoked to hear about how determined we are with all our crazy ways to spark optimism in the world and she even went so far as to say that what we’re doing is “something the world truly needs right now”. <3
We met some pretty amazing people whom we’re pretty excited to have scheduled some interviews with and look forward to sharing their beautiful stories sooner than later with our dedicated readers here at The Optimism Lab. Stay tuned….
