The healing powers of Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is an ancient (yet not very widely known) practice that does absolute wonders for one’s mind, body, and soul.
It’s been studied around the globe, has had numerous scientific studies to prove it’s efficacy in a myriad of areas, and many of the rewards can be felt immediately.
From reducing stress & anxiety, to helping heal trauma & PTSD, to reducing chronic pain, relieving insomnia, inflammation, and a variety other wonderful effects, this simple practice is something that can benefit pretty much anyone.
And it’s easy. And it’s free!!!
Unlike many other yoga practices, Yoga Nidra is done entirely in Savasana (corpse pose / laying down) while you’re guided through a deep relaxation exercise, resulting in something of a complete reset to your central nervous system.
As this “yogic sleep” allows for both Theta and Delta waves to come into play whilst you remain conscious, the body is able to relax as the unconscious and subconscious mind are awakened.
A 45 minute session can provide the same benefits as 3 hours of deep sleep!
Some of the proven benefits of Yoga Nidra include:
Improving sleep, reducing insomnia
Detachment from thoughts, overthinking
Releasing tension, pain
Connecting more deeply to yourself
Improving thought patterns
Stress reduction
Enhanced cognitive performance
Improved memory
Increased self-esteem, confidence
Better physical health
Improved waking mindfulness
Diminished symptoms of anxiety, depression, PTSD
Treats chronic pain, inflammation
